The Elkhart County Symphony’s 78th season begins on Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. with “Classics at the Woodland” at Wellfield Botanic Gardens. Amid the late summer splendor of Elkhart’s natural botanic conservatory—under the weatherproof comfort of the new, open-air Woodland Pavilion—the Symphony performs a repertoire including Mozart’s Overture from Marriage of Figaro, Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), L’Arlésienne Suite No. 2 (Bizet/Guiraud), and Festive Overture (Shostakovich). Principal horn and longtime local music educator Debra Inglefield is the featured soloist as the Symphony also performs Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat.
