Noon Time Talk: Brenda Tudor, Servants in the Gilded Age

Please join us on Thursday, May 12, 2022 for our Noon Time Talk at 12:15 PM.

Brenda Tudor, Servants in the Gilded Age During the Gilded Age, with fortunes being made and immigration high, about 16% of the population in New York City worked as servants. Since many of our ancestors made their start in this country as hired help, Brenda shares stories of her relatives who worked as maids in the late 19th century as well as elaborates on the English system of service that the wealthy in America tried to emulate.

Masks are required for all gallery talks if you have not been vaccinated. Masks are strongly recommended if you have been vaccinated. Gallery Talks or Noon Time Talks each Thursday will be limited to 50 people on a first-come-first-serve basis. Doors will be locked at 12:15. No admittance to the museum by the public will be allowed until the talk has concluded and the galleries emptied and sterilized.
