4th Annual Oaklawn’s Got Talent

Oaklawn’s Got Talent, a fundraiser for local mental health and addiction treatment, is back for its fourth year! Join us for a fun evening featuring five amazing local acts, and it’s up to the audience votes to determine who wins!

Finalists are:

Ted Yoder is a world-renowned musician, known for his groundbreaking and innovative approach to the hammered dulcimer. In 2016, Ted gained widespread attention when his hammered dulcimer cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” became a viral sensation, amassing over 100 million views.

Braylon Knapp, who records and performs under the name Brai, began singing in at an early age. He attended Clay High School where he participated in show choir before starting to write his own music. He’s a full-time student at IUSB. Whether it’s through music or his intended career in social work, Braylon hopes to bring change to the community while bringing out the best in others.

Shiny Shiny Black is an alternative folk band from Goshen featuring husband-and-wife songwriter duo Nate and Amber Butler. Since their debut studio release in 2014, Shiny Shiny Black has been writing and recording original songs and sharing the stage with local and regional artists. They appear regularly with formidable organist and pianist, Simon Kauffman Hurst.

Jonathan Torres, 18, of Elkhart, discovered his love of piano after taking a group class in high school. In December 2021, he enrolled in private lessons at the Elkhart School of Music with Michael Lechlitner. Since then, he has excelled – showing off his talent in five recitals. His plans for the future are to continue to grow and develop as a pianist with his sights on Carnegie Hall.

Bella Bauer is a freshman at Purdue University and the current Miss Indiana’s Teen 2024. She is the founder of the Purple Project: Epilepsy Awareness and Education. She is an author, epilepsy advocate, seizure first aid educator and trainer, and legislative advocate. Bella is the oldest of seven and enjoys quality time with her family. She has been dancing since she was 9 and loves a variety of dances.
