Transportation Breakfast to Celebrate new US 31
The Greater Elkhart Chamber, along with other Chambers, economic development organizations, local governments and private businesses, formed the US 31 Coalition almost 25 years ago. The goal of the Coalition is to develop an interstate-quality US 31 from the US 20 Bypass in South Bend to I-465 in Indianapolis.
In 2013, the bypass around Kokomo in Howard County opened, saving drivers time – and money – on the trip to Indianapolis. In August 2014, the northern section of the new highway in St. Joseph County opened. The last section, in Hamilton County, is under construction now, and scheduled to open in late 2015.
But there’s still more to do! The sections in between the construction projects are just as important, and must be upgraded as well.
Join us to celebrate the completed improvements and learn more about the continuing plan at the 18th annual Transportation breakfast on December 12. Dennis Faulkenberg, executive director of the US 31 Coalition, will be the featured speaker.
The event will be at 8 am at the Matterhorn Conference Center, 2041 Cassopolis St. The cost is $15 for members and $25 for prospective members. Registrations can be made online.
