DESCRIPTION:Participants who successfully complete the training will become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.\n**This course is “blended”. You will be required to complete a 2 hour self-paced training prior to attending the in-person portion of the course. All necessary links and materials will be provided for you.\nYou will learn:\n-That the peak age of onset for mental illness is early adolescence.\n-The unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents.\n-The importance of intervention.\n-How to help a youth who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.\n-A 5-step action plan to assist an adolescent in crisis or an adolescent that is exhibiting the signs and symptoms of mental illness.\n-Resources available to help adolescents with a mental health problem.
