This event\, hosted by the Community Foundation of Elkhart County\, aims to bring together estate planners and young professionals to meet\, share valuable services\, and begin building relationships. \nThe event will start with registration at 2:30 p.m. The program will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres\, beer\, and wine will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. \nWe will hear from a panel which will include members of the Estate Planning Council of Elkhart County with expertise in the disciplines of financial advising\, estate planning\, and tax and legal matters. They’ll be addressing issues relevant to young professionals including: \n\nCurrent and future financial planning\nThe importance of estate planning\nTips for choosing a trusted financial advisor\n\nAfter the panel there will be a happy hour for young professionals and estate planners. DESCRIPTION:RCRA/DOT Training hosted by Liquid Waste Removal (LWR) \nIf you manage and ship hazardous waste\, you must meet training requirements for both the U.S. EPA’s hazardous waste management rules and the U.S. DOT’s rules for packaging\, labeling\, loading\, and documenting shipments of hazardous materials.  \nThe Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requires training for personnel involved with hazardous waste management. This training session meets the regulatory requirements for both initial and annual refresher training and includes the following topics: \n\nOverview of Hazardous Waste Regulations\nHazardous Waste Determinations\nGenerator Classification\nHazardous Waste Management Standards for Containers and Tanks\nSatellite Accumulation Standards\nPersonnel Training\nLand Disposal Restrictions\nManifesting\nUsed Oil and Universal Waste\nUpdates on New Rules\, Including the Generator Improvement Rule\nCommon Violations and How to Avoid Them\nContingency Plans and Emergency Procedures\n\n  \nThis DOT training and testing complies with requirements applicable to hazardous waste shippers. This training is geared to those who complete and sign hazardous waste manifests to ship waste by highway. Training is required every 3 years. Topics to be covered include: \n\nDOT Hazardous Material Awareness\nClassifications of Hazardous Materials\nHazardous Materials Table\nShipping Papers\nPackaging\nMarking\, Labeling\, and Placarding\nEmergency Response Information\nTransportation Security\n\nTrainer \nRoger Andrews \nDirector of Training Services Cornerstone Environmental\, Health and Safety\, Inc. \nTraining Details \nThe training will be presented on Thursday\, May 16th at The Matterhorn Conference Center located at 2041 Cassopolis Street Elkhart\, IN 46514. \nSign-in begins at 8:00 AM\, and the RCRA training session starts at 8:30. Lunch is included\, followed by DOT training from 1:00-4:00 PM. Training material and certificates will be provided for both sessions (DOT participants must successfully pass a written exam). Please note\, both RCRA and DOT have additional recordkeeping requirements that will not be fulfilled solely by participating in the course or receiving a certificate or course slides. \nCost: $185 each session ($350 total for RCRA and DOT training). SUMMARY:Salvation Army Sneaker Shoe Collection Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Salvation Army – Elkhart is holding a sneaker shoe drive fundraiser beginning May 17 through September 30\, 2024\, to raise money for their local emergency assistance services. The Salvation Army will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn\, used\, and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers\, a social enterprise\, will issue funds in compensation for the collected sneakers. Those funds will benefit the Emergency Assistance Services program. Anyone can help by simply donating gently worn\, used\, and new sneakers.\nA fundraiser “Kickoff” event will take place on Friday\, May 17 11:00 am at the Salvation Army building located at 300 N. Main St. Elkhart\, IN. This event is in conjunction with National Salvation Army Week: May 13-17. Present will be representatives from The Salvation Army as well as from companies and organizations serving as shoe collection sites.\n“We are excited about our sneaker drive fundraiser\,” said Ron Sherck\, Development Director for The Salvation Army – Elkhart. We are inviting other businesses\, organizations\, clubs\, and schools to become shoe collection partners. We provide collection bins and promotional materials and will pick up all collected shoes.
