SUMMARY:Cinematic Jesus
DESCRIPTION:Films that tell the story of Jesus play an important role in the history of motion pictures. This course will blend watching significant segments of films with short lectures and discussions. We will begin by watching pieces of silent films\, then look at the Bible epics\, followed by the controversial films of the 70’s and 80’s\, and end with some recent treatments that contemporize Jesus to address current issues. Jo-Ann Brant is a Professor Emeritus of Bible and Religion who has published a number of articles on film treatments of Jesus. \nOct. 24\, 31; Nov. 7\, 14.
