DESCRIPTION:Do you have an old\, broken string of holiday lights laying around? Not sure what to do with them? Bring them to the EEC for recycling! 🎄 \nWe are very excited to announce that we are partnering with Schupan & Sons\, Inc. in Elkhart to help you recycle your unwanted Christmas lights! ♻️ Reduce your holiday waste this season by dropping off your lights to the Elkhart Environmental Center\, or take them directly to Schupan – whatever works best for you! \nWe will be collecting lights at the EEC until December 31st. You can bring them to our office Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM\, or leave them in the drop box on our front porch any time…we will be glad to take them! \nAs always\, feel free to reach out to us at eecmail@coei.org with any questions 😊

DESCRIPTION:The Salvation Army of Elkhart’s annual Red Ribbon Basket Campaign is back this holiday season. The organization is calling on the community to help fill 600 laundry baskets with personal care items\, which will then be distributed to local families in need. \n“Due to the pandemic\, we were unable to do the Red Ribbon Basket Campaign last year\,” said Lt. Katy Benedict\, The Salvation Army of Elkhart Corps Officer. “We are excited to have this campaign return as it has positively impacted so many in the community in prior years. Our community is a generous one\, and we are asking for their assistance in helping to make Christmas brighter for our neighbors.” \nTo sign up to fill an individual basket\, call (574) 970-0088 or visit The Salvation Army’s offices at 300 N. Main St between 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The Salvation Army will then provide the bin to load. Sign-ups are underway and community donors have until Dec. 13 before baskets must be completed and returned. \nToiletry\, personal care\, and cleaning items needed to fill the baskets include laundry detergent\, toilet paper\, shampoo and conditioner\, feminine hygiene products\, first aid products\, bathroom cleaner\, chlorine bleach\, dish soap\, paper towels\, toothbrush and toothpaste\, bath soap\, deodorant\, and vinegar.
