DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!\nCelebrating Minority Business Excellence hosted by the Business Diversity Initiative \nThe Greater Elkhart Chamber’s Celebrating Minority Business Excellence dinner is to honor the hard work\, dedication and accomplishments of minority businesses in our community. The event also provides a platform for entrepreneurs to network with leaders within their industry and celebrate this year’s award recipients in communications\, community impact\, finance\, health\, nonprofit\, restaurant and service. \nOur keynote speaker will be Marlene Dotson. Since 2011\, Dotson has served as President & CEO of the Indiana Latino Institute (ILI)\, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance Latino educational attainment and workforce preparedness statewide through advocacy\, leadership development\, and culturally responsive programming.  Under Dotson’s leadership\, ILI created and expanded its programming including the Indiana Latino Leadership Circle\, the Indiana Latino Legislative Agenda\, the Indiana Higher Education Consortium\, Hispanic Heritage Month events\, and the Indiana Latino Education Summit\, and secured more than $17 million in scholarships for Indiana Latino students. She has lifted Latino Hoosier voices and offered expert testimony to promote policies and practices that expand opportunities and improve outcomes for Latinos. \nThis year’s event will be held inside the Aria Ballroom at Hotel Elkhart on Thursday\, November 9. \nNetworking at 5:30 pm; Dinner will be served at 6 pm. DESCRIPTION:Active Shooter Preparedness and AmberBox Technology \nAccording to the Gun Violence Archive website\, there have been 562 mass shootings across the country this year\, up nearly 300 from last year alone.  Of those mass shootings\, 13 were in Indiana\, 14 were in Michigan\, 26 were in Ohio and 46 were in Illinois. \nAs the number of these incidents increase\, we need to keep up with the latest response tactics to help our work teams\, our families and friends stay safe.  Please join us as Sergeant Ted Bohner\, Indiana State Police\, shares the latest strategies and tactics developed by the Law Enforcement community to prepare for active shooter situations. \nIn addition\, Brandon Cline\, AmberBox\, will be joining us online to highlight how the Amber Box Gunshot Detection Technology is helping law enforcement deal with these situations.  AmberBox has other capabilities that Brandon will share to help organizations better respond to potentially violent situations in the workplace. \nBreakfast begins at 7:30 am; Program begins at 8 am \n  \n \n  \nThis event is open to all Greater Elkhart Chamber Members.
