Work Ethic Certification
Soon there will be a significant increase in the number of potential employees throughout Elkhart County. The reality is that this happens every year around the same time. At the end of May and early June, 2,500 high school seniors will graduate from our ten county high schools. Many of them are asking the same question at this time, “What now?”
Three years ago all ten high schools collaborated with a group of business connectors and business leaders to establish the Elkhart County Work Ethic Certification, which is part of the Indiana Governor’s Work Ethic Certification network. As part of this work a great deal of discussion was had about employer access to the county’s largest influx of new workers each year.
This will be the third year for the Elkhart County High School Seniors Job Fair, which will be held on Monday, March 25, from 9 am to 2 pm at Southgate Crossing, located at 27751 CR 26, Elkhart. The first year the job fair was held about 175 students participated. In 2018 there were over 400 students that were involved. The expectation is that this year’s job fair will have double the students as the previous year.
